China's total coal imports decreased by 12% m-o-m to 29.2 mnt in Oct'22 after rising for four consecutive months. The fall in imports came amid rising domestic coal output and weakening industrial demand in the country with the government's zero Covid policy. Cheaper domestic coal prices also compelled power utilities to bring down purchases of imported coal.
