Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL), a subsidiary of Coal India, will set up a power plant entailing an investment of around INR 12,000 crore in Odisha. The proposed capacity of the coal-fired power plant would be around 1,600 MW. Notably, the subsidiary is into process of diversification, thus, investing into power generation.
