China: Met coke prices rise by RMB 200/t amid coking coal shortage

Met coke producers in China's Shanxi have raised prices by RMB 200/t($31/t) with effect from 19 Apr'22. Prices for Shanxi's off-grade-I coke would be at RMB 3,800/t ($596/t) ex-plant including taxes. This price hike can be attributed to coking coal shortage due to stringent restrictions on transportation amid spike in Covid cases there.
